Title: Optimizing an Aerospace Composite Cure Cycle with Streamlined Kinetics Modeling and Simulation

Abstract: This study demonstrates how thermal analysis was used during pre-development to optimize the manufacturing cycle of composite panels for a high-performance two passenger aircraft. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to create a reaction kinetics model and generate process-specific curing profiles. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to experimentally validate the optimized curing profiles. The result is a 70% reduced cycle time compared to supplier recommendations while maintaining the mechanical properties of the final parts.
