Abstract: Re:Build Oribi is developing an Extrusion Compression Molding (ECM) process to manufacture performance products with Long Fiber Thermoplastics (LFT). To highlight this capability, a case study involving the manufacture and testing of composite field hockey toe inserts with and without continuous fiber inserts is presented. Descriptions of the process methods used to produce the inserts and field hockey toes are included, as well as the results of flexural testing for this case study. A range of insert conformations was utilized in conjunction with an LFT system utilizing a Nylon 6 reinforced with 45% long glass fibers.
