Abstract: Additive manufacturing (AM) produces metallic parts through a layer-wise deposition process, resulting in complex thermal histories that generate heterogeneous microstructures and locationdependent mechanical properties. While AM offers significant advantages in terms of design freedom and reduced lead times, qualifying AM parts remains challenging due to the high cost and time-intensive nature of conventional testing methods. To address this challenge, the current study focuses on characterizing the location-specific mechanical behaviour of AM metals using mini tensile specimens measuring 3 mm × 1.2 mm × 0.25 mm, obtained via micro-tensile testing and extracted from different regions of a manufactured AM part. Mechanical testing was conducted to evaluate stiffness, yield strength, tensile strength, and strain-to-failure at multiple locations. These data provide direct insights into the spatial variability of mechanical performance across the component. This data will help us identify the critical regions of the part and, based on it, create a final element model to predict the lifetime of an AM component.
